La Fornarina is an oil painting on panel (85×60 cm) by Raphael, dating to 1518-1519 and housed at Palazzo Barberini in Rome. Held by the artist in his studio until his death that came shortly after finishing, the work portraits a young woman half naked, surely to be destined for a private placement and far from indiscreet looks. The woman shows her breast while being covered just by a veil that she holds to her chest with her right hand and a red mantle covering her legs. Three-quarters to the left, the woman looks to the right, beyond the spectator, and the bracelet with the signature of the artist that she wears on the arm looks like a token of love.
